Government sources say that the Parliament will be closed after the meeting tomorrow (27).
The same sources say that it was hinted at today’s (26) ruling party meeting chaired by President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
Accordingly, it is stated that the parliamentary term will be closed for a very short period of time, i.e. for a week or two.
Meanwhile, appointments for the positions of the leader of the parliament and the chief organizer of the ruling party are also scheduled to be made tomorrow.
According to this, the Minister of Education, Dr. Susil Premajayantha, and Minister Prasanna Ranatunga will be appointed as the chief organizer of the ruling party, according to government sources.
Meanwhile, ministers from the ruling party including Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena have assured the President that they will support President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s upcoming program.
This is the first time that the group of ruling party MPs will meet after Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe assumed the office of President.
It is reported that members of the National Congress including A. L. M. Ataullah and members of the Ceylon Labor Congress including Jeevan Thondaman were also present.
