Officers of the Matale Divisional Crime Investigation Unit have arrested a suspect who killed two elderly women who lived alone in houses in Polgahawela and Makulugaswawa and robbed them of gold.
The Polgahawela woman was killed on the 20th. Her pair of earrings had been ripped off. Murder was happened in Damunwela area of ​​Polgahawela.
Makulugaswewa was murdered on the 15th.
The only suspect involved in both murders is a heavy drug addict. The police said that he was arrested yesterday in Piliyandala.
The pair of earrings stolen from the Polgahawela woman were found pawned at a pawn shop in Kiribathgoda and the laptop computer was found when it was given to a person in Wellampitiya.
Police say that the murder suspect is a resident of Bambaragaswewa, Aluthwewa.
