Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga posted a photo of herself dancing about half a century ago on her social media account.
She has posted a note about the photo as follows.
“The story of a photograph circulating on social media these days: This photograph was taken in 1969 when I presented Mayura Wannama at a cultural event organized by the Sri Lanka Students’ Union in France. We were the first to form a Sri Lanka Students’ Association in France and for the first time, we organized various programs including cultural activities. ”
Politics as well as art and aesthetics had a special place in her life. This is well confirmed by the fact that Vijaya Kumaratunga, a brilliant artist as well as a politician, became her husband.
However, at a ceremony after retiring from the presidency, a video and photos of Chandrika Bandaranaike dancing beautifully were widely circulated on social media. Below is one photo of it.
