The Indian Parliament has called an all-party meeting on July 19 regarding the current situation in Sri Lanka.
The country’s media reports say that Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Prahad Joshi said that ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and S. Jayashankar will present a summary of the situation in Sri Lanka in this meeting.
Earlier in the Parliament, the Tamil Nadu-based DMK and AIADMK parties had raised the issue of Sri Lanka, particularly the situation of the country’s Tamil population.
The two sides have demanded that India should intervene to resolve the crisis in Sri Lanka.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently stated that it will continue to advocate for the people of Sri Lanka and that it will support a peaceful resolution of the ongoing crisis “within a democratic and constitutional framework”.
