As the entire people of the country are demanding that both Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and the current prime minister who has no popular mandate should resign and go home, opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has indicated that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya will not participate in the discussions called by Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe, who is currently illegally serving as prime minister.

The relevant announcement also states: It should be noted that the current Prime Minister is the one who brought the Rajapaksas who were leaning against the wall in the midst of public opposition and secured them back to the political arena and betrayed the struggle and he is also a defendant in this crisis.

The end of the arbitrary, repressive, anti-democratic so-called government is now visible to everyone and we do not participate in empty discussions happening in closed stalls after everything has happened in the most tragic way possible.

At a time when all the people of this country are united in one goal of the building of our noble motherland, and at a time when the victory of that goal is visible, the futile negotiations called by the so-called prime minister will ensure the safety of the Rajapaksas for another round. Therefore the entire government should resign without finding temporary solutions.

We do not want to discuss the future of the country with the guardians and gatekeepers of the government led by Gotabhaya Rajapakse, and we also inform that we will contribute to the rebuilding of this country from anarchy together with all the parties that stood with the people’s struggle.
