For the first time in the history of South Asia, Yupun Abeykoon of Sri Lanka entered the record books today (03) as the first athlete to finish the 100m race in less than 10 seconds.
It was in an athletic sports tournament held in Switzerland.
He finished the race in 9.96 seconds.
Yupun managed to claim the new South Asian record as well as the new Sri Lankan record.
Yupun had previously finished the 100m event in 10.05 seconds.
