According to the All Ceylon Filling Station Owners Association, about 90% of all petrol stations are inactive.
Its chairman Mr. W. S. Fernando said that the situation has arisen due to fuel orders not being received properly.
Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has given 80 orders to transport fuel only for essential services, says the Association of Petroleum Private Tankers.
Its joint secretary Mr. Shanta Silva said that the Ceylon IOC company has given the opportunity to transport fuel to a number of 150 to 200 filling stations.
