Mr. C. D. Wickramaratne states that disciplinary action will be taken against police officers who open underground tanks at filling stations and show them to the public.
The IGP has also issued an order to all OICs in the country not to interfere in the operation of the Petroleum Corporation and the filling station staff as it is the responsibility of the Petroleum Corporation to open or inspect the fuel tanks at the filling stations.
It was further stated in the order that the police have been deployed at filling stations to ensure security.
