Two members of the same family have been injured in an attack near the Ettale petrol station in Kalpitiya and have been admitted to hospital for treatment, police said.
The attack took place at around 10.40 am yesterday (21).
The victims were identified as 02 brothers of the same family and namely Edirisinghe Arachchilige Tharidhu Priyashan (25) and Edirisinghe Arachchilage Harsha Chathuranga (28), residents of Kalpitiya – Talawila.
The injured have been admitted to the Kalpitiya District Hospital. One of the injured has been transferred to the Puttalam Base Hospital for further treatment.
According to hospital sources, the injured had sustained head injuries.
Police say the attack took place after an argument at the fuel queue escalated.
No suspects have been arrested. Kalpitiya Police are conducting further investigations.
