Cabinet approval has been granted to transfer 10 acres of land in Muthurajawela to the Ceylon Electricity Board for the construction of an LNG power plant.

The land adjacent to the Yugadanavi power plant in Muthurajawela will also be handed over.

The Ceylon Electricity Board expects to build a 300 MW LNG power plant.

Accordingly, Minister of Urban Development and Housing Prasanna Ranatunga has submitted this proposal to the Cabinet yesterday to recover the market value of the land assessed by the Government Assessor and release it to the Ceylon Electricity Board.
