The Government has decided to revise the minimum age limit for Sri Lankan women to apply for domestic and domestic work abroad.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to revise the minimum age for employment of Sri Lankan women in domestic and domestic related work abroad to 21 years.
The current minimum age for Sri Lankan women to engage in domestic and domestic related work abroad is 25 years for Saudi Arabia, 23 years for other Middle Eastern countries and 21 years for other countries.
It was decided at the Cabinet meeting held on 06 June 2022 to appoint a Cabinet Sub-Committee headed by the Minister of Justice, Prisons and Constitutional Reforms to study the matter and make recommendations to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the amendment of the said age limit, in view of a proposal made by the Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment.
Accordingly, this decision has been taken taking into consideration the recommendations made by the said Sub-Committee.
