Residents of the area say that the road from Chilaw to Nainamadama has been damaged due to the sea level rise.
According to the residents of the area, the sea level rose sharply on the 11th of June at noon.
The area north of the Thoduwawa estuary has been under heavy erosion for several months, causing damage to two houses located at the site. In recent days, residents in the area have warned of catastrophic damage if the stone-retaining walls are not quickly built to the already eroded coastline.
Meanwhile, the Chilaw-Nainamadama road was flooded due to rough seas last month, causing damage to several parts of the road.
