Touring Australian players have joined a humanitarian aid campaign for Sri Lanka, which is suffering from a severe economic crisis.

Today, the cricketers joined forces with the United Nations team in Sri Lanka and non-governmental organizations to develop a combined Humanitarian Needs and Priorities (HNP) Plan.

The initiative aims for $47.2 million in humanitarian relief to be sent to Sri Lanka over the course of four months, from June to September.

Australian players Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc sent video messages increasing awareness of Sri Lanka’s economic crisis.
