The Department of Agriculture has informed the Minister of Agriculture, Wildlife and Wildlife Resources Mahinda Amaraweera that the required chemical fertilizers have been issued for paddy fields in all provinces which cultivate seed paddy.
Accordingly, 6,774.3 hectares in nine provinces have been sown with seed paddy this Yala season and the Department of Agriculture has informed the Minister that steps have been taken to release 1524 metric tons of urea, 372.6 metric tons of TSP (Tipple Super Phosphate) fertilizer and 406.5 metric tons of MOP (Murate OF Potash) required for those paddy fields.
The Minister also stated that these steps were taken to provide quality seed paddy to farmers.
