The Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera today instructed the officials to prepare a program to release the unused government lands for cultivation and to enable the public to harvest the jackfruits & breadfruits from the trees in the forest reserves.
The Ministry of Agriculture has launched a program to start a cultivational revolution covering the entire island while taking this decision to face the possible food crisis in the future.
As public access to the reserves is prohibited, permits will be issued in the future to enable the public to harvest jackfruits and other plants’ fruits in the forest reserves.
