Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon has sent a letter to IGP Mr. C. D. Wickramaratne stating that he has fulfilled all his duties without fail and that he has acted on the orders of senior officers of the Sri Lanka Police and the Ministry of Public Security, in connection with the incident that took place on the 9th at Galle Face and its environs.
He had sent the letter on the 29th.
In that letter, he points out that when the case was taken before the Hon. Fort Magistrate’s Court, the lawyers who appeared for the aggrieved party made false allegations against him and his reputation with 24 years of service was severely damaged due to the widespread publicity given to that false information by the media.
In the letter, Deshabandu Tennakoon requested the IGP to conduct an impartial inquiry by the CID into the allegations leveled against him and he expects them to simply report his innocence to the Hon. Court based on the correct information revealed there.
He has been on personal leave for 14 days from the 30th of this month after sending this letter. He points out that the CID’s investigation into him will be completed within those 14 days.
