Officers of the Negombo Divisional Crime Investigation Unit have arrested three persons with 01kg and 541g of ice worth nearly 20 million rupees.
The racket was uncovered when a man with 120g of ice was arrested and interrogated in Negombo yesterday morning. Another suspect was arrested with 157g of ice at the Negombo bus stand, police said. According to information obtained during his interrogation, another man was also arrested with 1kg and 157g of ice at Ramani Mawatha in Negombo in the evening.
The arrested persons are aged 32, 38 and 40 and are residents of Negombo and Kotahena. Police also seized Rs. 103,000 from their possession, which is suspected to have been earned from drug trafficking.
The suspects are due to be produced in court today.
