Mr. Hettiarachchi, a senior official in the Administrative Service, has been appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security.
Accordingly, retired Major General Jagath Alwis, who previously held the post of Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, has lost his post.
Mr. Jagath Alwis submitted his resignation letter to the authorities yesterday and removed his belongings including personal files that he had from the office of the Ministry of Public Security.
He later stated that he had not resigned and will continue to work in the Ministry of Public Security.
Accordingly, he returned to his office today and resumed his duties as usual, the ministry said.
