The government has taken steps to extend the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on sending and receiving employees to and from the Republic of South Korea under the Employment Permit System.
The two countries have previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on sending and receiving employees to and from the Republic of South Korea under the Employment Permit System.
Under the agreement, Sri Lankans will have the opportunity to work in South Korea for four years and 10 months, with the possibility of further extension based on employee performance.
The MoU should be renewed every two years.
The proposal made by Hon. Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment to sign a new Memorandum of Understanding for another 2 years or for another period agreed upon by the Republic of Korea under the terms and conditions of the Memorandum of Understanding signed previously, was approved by the Cabinet.
