Today, on the 13th anniversary of the defeat of LTTE terrorism, the Tamil community in Britain is protesting in front of the British Parliament demanding an Eelam state.
They have stated that justice should be done for the Tamils who died in Mullivaikkal. There, they were seen protesting with flags similar to those of the LTTE.
“We want a Tamil Eelam, we want justice, we want freedom,” they protested.
On May 18, 2009, with the assassination of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran in an attack by the Sri Lankan army forces Sri Lanka was able to end three decades of terrorism in the country.
The Tamil Diaspora continues to allege that unarmed Tamils were killed during the operation.
However, the Sri Lankan security forces deny the allegations and have confirmed on several occasions to the international community that they have safely rescued the civilians held as human shields by the LTTE organization at the end of a humanitarian operation.
