Don’t wait in queues – There’s no Petrol – Minister of Energy

The Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera stated in Parliament that despite being in queues, it is not possible to provide petrol today and tomorrow.

He also stated that there are no stocks of petrol in the country at present.

The Minister says that although the distribution of petrol will begin next Friday, it will take about three days to distribute them to petrol stations.

Therefore, the Minister urges the people not to wait in queues near petrol stations in anticipation of petrol.

However, there is no problem with diesel, he said. The Minister also stated that there is sufficient diesel supply for the next few weeks.

Out of 1300 petrol stations in the country, 1190 filling stations were supplied with diesel yesterday, the Minister said.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera stated this while disclosing information on the current fuel reserves in the country.
