A secret report on drug trafficking and drug use among officers serving in the Sri Lanka Police has been released by IGP C. D. Wickramaratne to the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Defense.
In the report, IGP has made it clear that 21 police officers have been arrested with drugs in the past year and information has been received regarding 156 police officers who are addicted to drugs.
The report also states that intelligence has been obtained that 130 police officers have links with drug traffickers. The IGP has pointed out to the Minister of Public Security that this is a very unusual situation.
