The number of people arrested on suspicion of attacking and setting fire to politicians’ houses and properties following the attack on protesters at the Galle Face protest site and Temple Trees in Kollupitiya on the 9th has risen to 664 this afternoon.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal stated that 258 persons have been arrested in the past 24 hours.
Nihal Thalduwa said that 272 suspects have been remanded so far.
Nihal Thalduwa further stated that the police have so far received 791 complaints regarding the violence that took place in connection with the incident. Out of these, 444 complaints were received from the Western Province and the second highest number of complaints were received from the Southern Province. Which is 118.
