Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that discussions have been initiated with the foreign government to bring the country’s economic situation back to normalcy and that it will take several more months to complete the process.

He made this statement in a special statement issued tonight.

“We reviewed especially the economic situation, our fuel situation, the fertilizer situation yesterday and today.

That review shows that we are facing some problems and deficits because we were not ready yet. So really the next few weeks are going to be the hardest time for us.

I hope to talk about that tomorrow. But we are confident that we can go on this journey together and recover from this economic loss.”

The Prime Minister further said that several steps have been taken to protect Gotagogama and that he will support it.
