The Public Utilities Commission says that the Ceylon Electricity Board will have to bear a loss of around Rs. 250 billion if the electricity tariff is not increased this year.

Its chairman Janaka Ratnayake says the revision of electricity tariffs will depend on government policies.

He added that there will be no power cuts for more than 10 hours in the future, as said by some people.
