03 vehicles parked in a house were set on fire

Chilaw Police state that they have launched an investigation into the burning of two cars and a motorcycle that happened due to a personal dispute.

The fire broke out at around 1.30 am on the 3rd of May.

Police are investigating following a complaint lodged by Lal Hettiarachchi, a businessman residing in Puliyankadawara, Mugunuwatawana.

The businessman said he and his family woke up at night to a noise they heard and when finding the source they saw that two cars and a motorcycle parked in his backyard were set on fire.

He also stated that he has suffered a loss of around Rs. 8 million due to the burning of vehicles.

It is unknown at this time who caused the fire.

Police say that they believe a personal dispute may have caused the fire.

Chilaw Police are conducting further investigations.
