Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has instructed the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal to immediately register new suppliers for fuel transport.

The Minister also instructed to cancel the registration of fuel transport suppliers who fail to report for duty.

The Minister said that trains, government-owned bowsers, petrol station-owned browsers, and non-striking private hired browsers are continuing to operate at present.

At 4 pm today, a total of 381 bowsers were used to deliver fuel.

Out of these, 84 are government-owned bowsers, 103 are filling station-owned bowsers and 194 are hired bowsers that were operated without going on strike, the Minister said.

Because of them, adequate auto diesel, super diesel, petrol 92 and kerosene have been supplied to petrol stations and stocks are also available to distribute, he said.

The Minister also said that the provision of 95 octane petrol has been restricted.
