UN Secretary-General António Guterres has arrived in Russia on a three-day official visit.
On the first leg of the visit, UN Secretary-General António Guterres met with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The two discussed at length the escalating Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Speaking to the media, the Russian Foreign Minister said, “We are working hard to create the conditions required for a fruitful conversation.”
Russia’s Foreign Minister has said that Ukraine has become a catalyst for a large number of problems that have been created so far.
However, Guterres said he hoped to hold lengthy talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is reported that the main purpose of the UN Secretary-General’s visit is to initiate talks on a ceasefire regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
