The Ministry of Technology states that the security of all government-owned websites in the country has been secured to ensure the security of the country.
The secretary of the ministry Jayantha de Silva said that the decision was taken following information circulating on social media that a group of hackers could attack several government websites in the country.
However, no such incident has been reported so far, he said.
The Secretary to the Ministry further said that cyber attacks are a common occurrence and updates in the data security systems are being carried out properly to deal with it.
