President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has appointed a distinguished Group on Financial and Economic Expertise as members of the Presidential Advisory Council on Multilateral Affairs and Debt Sustainability.
Accordingly,
01 – Former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and former Director of Economic Affairs of the Commonwealth Secretariat Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy
02 – Professor of Development Practice, Georgetown University and former Chief Economist, World Bank, Prof. Santa Devarajan,
03 – Former Director of the Institutional Capacity Development Institute and former Deputy Director of the African Department of the IMF, Dr. Sharmini Cooray,
Serve as members of that advisory team.
The members of the advisory team who met with the President discussed key issues, including the continuation of the International Monetary Fund’s program and the ongoing liaison for relevant needs.
The Presidential Advisory Council is tasked with consulting with Sri Lankan institutions and officials affiliated with the International Monetary Fund, providing guidance on how to address the current debt crisis and guide Sri Lanka towards a sustainable recovery.
