A number of medical devices, including contact lenses, pulse oximeters, blood glucose meters, and stents used when in blocking of blood vessels, have been upgraded to a maximum retail price increasing the current price, a new gazette notification has been issued.
This gazette notification was issued yesterday.
Accordingly, the price of metal vials used to avoid blockages in blood vessels, which was used to be Rs. 11,000, will increase by nearly Rs. 49,000.
Also, according to the gazette notification, the maximum retail price of a Pulse Oximeter is Rs. 3870. Also, a unit of blood glucose meter would cost Rs. 1300. The test strip used for those scales will also increase by about Rs. 23.
According to this gazette notification, the price of many medical devices will be about 29% higher than the current price. There are devices that go even higher.
