The government has decided to give Rs. 5,000 each to low income earners for two months on the occasion of the Sinhala New Year.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting today.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Energy Minister Gamini Lokuge said that nearly 3.1 million people would receive the Rs. 5,000 allowance.
