The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says that a continuous supply of water to many parts of the island cannot be guaranteed due to the prevailing dry weather.

The Water Board states that the water levels of the Kalu and Kelani rivers, which are the main sources of drinking water for distribution, are also showing low capacity and the water level in other reservoirs has also decreased.

As a result, the board called on the public to use water sparingly.

The Water Supply and Drainage Board further stated that the water supply could be disrupted due to power outages.
