Co-spokesman of the Cabinet Ramesh Pathirana said that he is hoped that the gas shortage in the country will be fully resolved in the coming days.

He also said that the letters of credit for the release of the two gas ships brought to Sri Lanka have been issued by now.

He pointed out that these crises have been linked to the issue of diesel and fuel prices and the Railway Department, the Transport Board, the Petroleum Corporation and the Electricity Board that are running under the government have all suffered severe losses as institutions.

He said that at some point the people of the country would have to bear the loss and that every person should be prudent in achieving a very good financial position to keep these institutions afloat.

Accordingly, he said that these institutions will have to work to provide services to the people at concessionary rates, as well as to protect the institution while balancing both tasks.
