Support from India to implement Digital Identity Cards

The Government of India has agreed to provide a grant of Rs. 300 million for the implementation of Sri Lanka’s Unified Digital Identity Framework, the Cabinet Office said.

The statement issued by the Cabinet Office in this regard is as follows.

The Government of India has agreed to provide a grant of Rs. 300 million for the implementation of Sri Lanka’s Unified Digital Identity Framework.

It is proposed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties to obtain the said grant and the draft Memorandum of Understanding has been cleared by the Attorney General.

Accordingly, the proposal made by the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Technology, to proceed with the relevant activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
