The Cabinet has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of India for the development of fisheries harbors in Sri Lanka.
The statement issued by the Cabinet Office in this regard is as follows.
The Government of India has agreed to assist in the development of fisheries harbors at selected locations by mutual agreement.
Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Minister of Fisheries to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries to obtain the assistance of the Government of India for the development of fishing harbors at Point Pedro, Pesalai, Gurunagar, Balapitiya and other mutually agreed places, was approved by the Cabinet.
