An Indian national who had been living in various parts of the country for about 39 years as a beggar has died at the Puttalam Base Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Sevano Ramasamy, 75.
The deceased, who had been living as a beggar in Puttalam, suddenly fell ill on the 8th.
Those who were at the scene admitted him to the Puttalam Base Hospital for treatment. He died the same day.
Hospital staff searched a bag in the possession of the deceased as no one came forward to identify or accept the body.
It was revealed at the time that the deceased was an Indian national.
It has been revealed that he had arrived in the country in 1983 and had been living in various places in the island as a beggar.
Police have revealed that he had arrived in Puttalam from Kotagala, Nuwara Eliya on the 3rd.
