Leader of the House, Minister Dinesh Gunawardena told Parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella today (09) to stop talking nonsense.
Minister Dinesh Gunawardena was responding to a question raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Lakshman Kiriella as to whether provincial council schools could be made national schools despite the government’s promise to India to implement the 13th amendment.
We took action to eliminate the 24-year-old principal teacher salary anomaly in our country. We solved that problem which no government paid attention to. We are now resolving a number of issues that arose in the past.
We did not take over schools in one gazette. We need to make decisions regarding the education of rural children through discussions with the Provincial Councils. So don’t tell inane stories. The Minister said that it was a good thing to introduce one national school for each Divisional Secretariat.
