The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) says that there is a risk of a shortage of coal in the future due to the use of money allocated for the importation of coal to import fuel.

They also say that if there is a shortage of coal, there is a risk of having power outages for about 15 hours.

They point out that it is imperative to import coal before the end of April as the sea will be rough in the coming seasons.

The Ceylon Electricity Board further states that it will not be possible to bring any coal ship to Sri Lanka during the season of rough seas.
