Officers of the Bandaranaike International Airport Unit of the CID have arrested an Indian passenger and another Indian accomplice for attempting to smuggle a consignment of gold to India hidden in his anus.
One kilo and 290 grams of gold were found in the possession of the passenger.
Officers from the CID, who were on patrol surveillance duty at the airport, were suspicious of a passenger who had been waiting unusually long in the toilet at the exit terminal. A search was carried out and the passenger was arrested with gold.
The 28-year-old passenger was preparing to leave for Chennai. The gold was packed in three pieces weighing 430 grams each to hide in his anus. There was a way to cover those parts and hide them in the rectum.
