Mr. Tissa Bandaranaike, who had been ill for some time, was 65 years old at the time of his death.
Mr. Bandaranaike has acted in teledramas such as Kahala Nadaya, Alubanduna, Girikula, Mahathala Hatana, Yugavilakkuwa, Sansare Piya Sathana, Sitha Nivana Katha as well as films such as Bhavaduka, Wekanda Walawwa, Nil Diya Yahana, Igilena Maluvo and Davena Vihangun. He acted in 300 stage plays including Ekadipathi, Makara Rakshaya, Dhawala Bheeshana.
The late Tissa Bandaranaike became extremely popular among the audience for his portrayal of monks.
He has won a number of awards, including the Sumathi Award for Best Supporting Actor.
The body of Mr. Tissa Bandaranaike is resting in his house at No. 16/1, Jaya Mawatha, Makola South, and his last rites will be performed at 6.00 pm tomorrow (21) at Sepala Cemetery, Kelaniya.
