Investigations have revealed that the vehicle in which the attackers had come to attack the house of journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrema had arrived in Havelock Town from Piliyandala.
The route taken by the vehicle has been under investigation since then and security camera footage, as well as telephone network analysis, are being carried out, police said.
In addition to the van, two persons had arrived on a motorcycle on the attack. The police are also focusing on them in investigations.
A senior police official said that the attackers could be suspected of being experienced criminals due to their fearless behavior.
“Those criminals were behaving calmly. They have come with a good understanding of the location of Chamuditha’s house. That’s why they go straight to that house. At least they haven’t asked the location of the house from the security guard. It is clear that the attackers had come with some understanding of where the house is, ”the official said.
According to police sources, a person who was recently interviewed by Chamuditha Samarawickrema’s YouTube channel will be summoned for questioning in the future. That is because the attack came after that controversial interview.
