The Association of Specialist Physicians says that the continuous strike by a group of health workers will make the sick and the people of the country helpless.
Dr. Lakkumara Fernando, President of the Association of Specialist Physicians, said that it was a selfish act to go on a continuous strike at a time when the corona disaster was spreading.
The President of the Specialist Doctors’ Association said that the government was under the influence of the trade unions and in the past various salary increases and allowances were given creating salary anomalies and therefore this confusing situation was created.
Mr. Fernando also said that a proper policy should be formulated and implemented through the National Salaries and Remuneration Commission to eliminate salary anomalies.
He also called on the government not to confuse the issue of salary anomalies by increasing the salaries or allowances under the influence of the health unions.
