Four persons have been buried in a landslide in Madige village in Urunepana, Wattegama this afternoon.
The accident took place while digging a foundation adjacent to a house.
Wattegama Police stated that the foundation had been laid using concrete and a protective wall to prevent the soil from collapsing, but the concrete shield had broken through and the mound had fallen to the ground.
02 out of 04 people who were buried at the time were rushed to the hospital and it has taken some time to rescue the other two, police said. Police say that those 02 were also taken to the hospital and that they were in critical condition.
After admitting to the hospital, 03 of them have passed away.
