An ambulance driver in Kethumathi Hospital revealed a drug racket related to Salindu

Police said that the ambulance driver of the Panadura Kethumathi Hospital who saved his life after being shot has transported more than 100 kilos of heroin and ice in 10 ambulances on 10 occasions.

It is said that he had been transported in this manner as per the instructions given to him by the Panadura drug lords over the phone and that he had received between Rs. 500,000 and Rs. 10 lakhs at a time for that.

Investigations into the shooting have revealed information about the drug trade. Accordingly, officers of the Kalutara Divisional Crime Investigation Unit arrested the ambulance driver. During lengthy interrogations, he stated that he was involved in the racket when the country was in lockdown in the wake of the Covid epidemic in 2020.

He has said that large quantities of heroin had been brought by ambulance from Matara and Galle on two occasions and had been taken to IDH and Kalubowila.

Investigations have revealed that the ambulance driver was also involved in the arrest of two Army personnel with more than 50 kilos of heroin by the Central Anti-Corruption Brigade in Walane, Panadura. It is suspected that the ambulance driver had given the stock of heroin to the Army personnel and he is currently revealing important information regarding those interrogations, police said.

Investigations have also revealed that the ambulance driver was shot by a group of suspects on suspicion that the ambulance driver had given information to the police regarding his salvation as police started to track him down.

It is suspected that the drug lord is currently in Dubai and is involved in drug trafficking and other crimes, while some parties suspect that he is in Sri Lanka. According to police sources, they have not been able to confirm a country or an exact location of his whereabouts as he is in touch with his henchmen in Sri Lanka through an internet call system.

The intelligence services are also conducting a special investigation into the properties of the drug lord and the intelligence services have a lot of information on some of the properties of him that are owned by other persons as well as Salindu’s links between the security forces and politicians.
