The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) says they will not cut off electricity to any area today (02) if they receive sufficient fuel and diesel within today as it is expected to receive.

The Public Utilities Commission is in discussions with the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to obtain fuel for the Ceylon Electricity Board.

Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission Janaka Ratnayake stated that the Ceylon Electricity Board has not yet been given permission to carry out any power cuts.

It was against such a backdrop that power outages were reported in many areas twice yesterday without prior notice.
