The principal of Sri Sumangala Boys’ School in Panadura has been remanded after being caught by the Bribery and Corruption Commission for accepting a bribe of Rs. 150,000 to admit a child to grade one.
That is after the principal was produced before Panadura Magistrate Mr. Lahiru N. Silva today.
The principal had taken the bribe last evening. He initially demanded Rs. 200,000 to admit the child of the complainant to the first grade for the year 2022 and obtained Rs. 50,000 as an advance. The Bribery Commission states that the principal was arrested while collecting the balance.
