The sale of insurance policies using mobile and landline networks now have been discontinued.
The decision was taken by the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka.
The Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka has taken this step after considering the complaints received from the public.
With effect from September 6, 2021, all insurance companies have been instructed to discontinue the sale of insurance policies using mobile and landline networks.
Accordingly, the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka has emphasized several points to ensure the safety of the public.
That is,
- Avoid buying insurance while still using mobile and landline networks.
- If you have already purchased insurance through mobile and landline networks, contact the relevant insurance company directly, confirm the insurance policy relevant to that insurance, and take the necessary steps to maintain it.
- Insurance companies that sell insurance policies using mobile and landline networks are obliged to continue to provide services to the insured customers directly through an insurance broker or insurance agent.
- It is your right as an insurance owner to call the insurance company’s hotline/customer service number for clarification on any of these matters.
