The Ceylon Electricity Board says that it will be possible to reduce the night power cut from today (08).

Its general manager, Mr. M. R. Ranatunga said that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) had agreed yesterday to supply stocks of fuel for the Sapugaskanda plant and Colombo Port floating power plant.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Sumith Wijesinghe stated that the Ceylon Electricity Board has agreed to provide the required dollars for the importation of petroleum.

Accordingly, the board will be able to supply the required fuel without interruption, he said.

The power supply to various parts of the country was cut off for an hour in four stages between 5.30 pm and 9.30 pm last night due to a power outage due to an oil shortage.
