The Central Bank of Sri Lanka states that if any Sri Lankan has US dollars or foreign currency in their possession, steps will be taken to give extra value to those dollars in Sri Lankan rupees.
Accordingly, if there is US $ 15,000 or other foreign currency equivalents, it can be given to any bank’s branch and the Sri Lankan Rupee can be obtained at Rs. 210 (extra Rs. 10) per dollar, the Central Bank said.
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka states that Sri Lankans will be given the opportunity to convert Sri Lankan Rupees in this manner for the remaining currency of Sri Lankan Rupees converted into foreign currency in anticipation of a trip abroad, or foreign currency brought to Sri Lanka by working abroad or foreign currency in possession from some other way.
